| Captain D's will open two new restaurants in Plano in the next few years with plans for 25 to 30 new locations throughout North Texas, the fast casual seafood restaurant announced. The two restaurants in Plano will be franchises owned by Eric and Tae Kim, longtime Dairy Queen franchise owners. They are still identifying locations for the restaurants, the first of which will open in 2017. The second will open in 2018. Both Eric and Tae Kim wanted to explore other restaurants after owning Dairy Queens. The business partners own two in Garland and two in Mesquite. "In the Dallas-Fort worth area, there are several burger and chicken options, but customers have very few places to purchase fast-casual seafood," Eric Kim said in a press release. "This void, along with Captain D's menu innovation, new store design and profitability, were the reasons we had to take advantage of this unique opportunity." Kim's wife Cristina Kim also owns her own bakery in Rowlett. He said he's excited about Captain D's long-term plans for dozens of new Captain D locations in North Texas. Existing Captain D locations in North Texas will also be remodeled by early 2015. Captain D's is based in Nashville and has 520 locations in 25 states plus military bases around the world.
